"We've used rain barrels for over 10 years to water our plants. Instead of chemicals, we add feeder goldfish each spring—they eat mosquito larvae, algae, and debris all summer. At the end of the season, we bring them inside until the thaw. It's an easy, natural way to keep water safe and chemical-free, and one of my favorite homesteading tricks."
